eBay, the largest and most respected of online auction sites, now offers an affiliate program through Microsoft's bCentral network (also known as ClickTrade).

eBay's proven reputation means you are able to easily recommend them to your visitors. However, their strong brand also may have an adverse effect in that most visitors already know about eBay, and may not be curious enough to click.


The eBay affiliate program provides two main benefits. First, by signing up and becoming an eBay affiliate, you immediately receive 5,000 credits for free advertisements on Microsoft's Link Exchange network. These credits can be used to help promote your site. Given current click-through rates, you can assume this bonus will drive 20-50 visitors to your web site.


More importantly, of course, is the cash commission. eBay pays $3 for each visitor you refer to their site who registers. Since it is free to register, your visitors do not need to purchase anything on eBay (or list anything for sale) in order for you to earn this commission.


Online reporting of commissions is made available through bCentral. Commission checks are issued monthly once $25 in commissions have been accrued.
