Ah-ha
Ah-ha.com is a new search engine that claims to
offer superior searching results by removing duplicate and unrelated results.
Ah-Ha offer a quickly growing affiliate program
administered through Commission Junction. The program is unique in that it
promises to pay you 15% commissions on the ad revenues Ah-ha.com generates after
one of your visitors begins a search from your site. This is not just the
revenue for the first, immediate search results page, but all pages and searches
that the visitor generates during a browsing session after linking from your
site.
A quick look at Ah-ha.com's advertising rates show that they charge between $25
and $40 CPM (meaning an advertiser pays $25 to $40 for every 1000 times their
banner ad is displayed). Assuming Ah-ha.com is able to sell out their ad
inventory, this would result in an initial click-through rate of $0.004 to
$0.006 (15% of what Ah-ha.com makes per ad impression) per visitor. However, it
should be noted that it is unlikely they can actually sell all, ia any,
advertising at anywhere near the rate card they ask for, given the current
advertising climate on the Internet.
If the visitor goes on to make multiple searches, or looks through several pages
of search results, you would expect to earn a multiple of this amount. Of
course, as mentioned, these numbers assume Ah-ha.com is able to sell all of
their advertising. If they are not, or if they fill inventory with reduced rate
ads, this amount would be less.
As a second component, Ah-ha.com also pays a 25% ($5) commission on each
LogoLink sale you refer. As part of their search engine, web sites have the
options of purchasing a LogoLink, with a setup fee of $19.95. This gives the
purchasing site several benefits including improved search results.
As with all Commission Junction programs, Ah-ha.com is two-tier, paying $1 for
each new affiliate you refer, and 5% of whatever commissions they each earn.
The program gives you the freedom to promote with just about any type of link
(except spam, of course). Online commission tracking , and verification are
provided by Commission Junction, who administers the program. Checks are issued
monthly, once commissions (with all Commission Junction programs combined) have
reached $25.
The program offers a unique concept that could be lucrative, and would make a
great way to replace links to other search engines that do not offer an
affiliate program.
